Commercial Pilot Training is a course of study used when learning to pilot an aircraft for commercial purposes i.e. for flying passenger aircrafts. The overall purpose of such pilot training is the acquisition and honing of basic airmanship skills. Commercial pilot training has found a lot of interest among people in recent years. This is because of the coming up of many airline services (especially low cost airlines) and growing globalization, economic liberalization and a boom in the aviation industry which has resulted in plenty of job opportunities in airline companies both within and outside India. With the highest number of airlines, the US is the most desired destination for most commercial pilots. Even UK, Australia and some European countries can also be happy hunting grounds for ambitious commercial pilots.

How to become a Commercial Pilot?

One can become a commercial pilot only after he has obtained a Commercial Pilot License (CPL). Commercial Pilot License authorizes the pilot to fly both passenger planes and cargo planes. A Commercial Pilot License may be obtained only after a Private Pilot License (PPL) has been acquired. To obtain a Commercial Pilots License, 250 hours of flying (including 60 hours for the PPL) is necessary. Besides that, one has to undergo a Medical Fitness Test and an examination.

PPL is acquired to a student only after a specific number of flying hours. Its training includes sixty hours of flying of which about fifteen hours are dual flights, that is accompanied by the flight instructor and at least 30 hours of solo flights apart from five hours of cross-country flying. This makes one eligible for the Private Pilot License exam. The prescribed age for appearing for this exam is 17 years and an educational qualification of 10+2 along with a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by the Armed Forces Central Medical Establishment (AFCME). Only after clearing this exam does one get a PPL.

Commercial pilot training is provided by many aviation academies all over India. However, only few of them provide quality training. Chimes Aviation Academy is one of them. It has first of its kind preliminary pilot training course aimed at young aspirants who would want to understand nuances of being a pilot in a practical scenario. Aim of this course is to enable aspiring pilots to test their aptitude for being a pilot & become eligible to appear for CPL (Commercial Pilot License) examination.

To enroll in this institute and get a Commercial Pilot License, one needs to fulfill some basic criteria. It is as follows:

Educational

Qualification

One can join this course while studying in class Xth or above. However for grant of CPL license eligibility is Class XII with Physics & Maths as subjects

Medical

Basic health fitness, for regular CPL course, Class II is mandatory and for grant of CPL license, Class I is mandatory.

Age

16 years and above. Please note for grant of CPL license one should be 18 years old on date of issue of license

Nationality

As of now this course is offered only to Indian Nationals

Other

Adequate competency in English Language.

Aviation Qualification

NIL

Aviation academies like Chimes Aviation Academy teach a pilot the process of flying an aircraft through the air with proper direction and control. It also teaches the students to understand the weather forecasts. A qualified pilot is supposed to be an expert in leading his crew and the passengers even in trying circumstances and a leader par excellence. Thus to become a commercial pilot, one should have a sound mind in a healthy body, lot of courage, determination and self-confidence besides academic qualification.

Flight or pilot training is a course of study used when learning to pilot an aircraft. The overall purpose of primary and intermediate pilot training is the acquisition and honing of basic airmanship skills. Pilot training is gaining a lot of interest and momentum these days especially among the adventurous types and prospective pilots. This has resulted in the opening up of many aviation academies in India like Chimes Aviation Academy, which boasts of providing pilot training on Cessna 172 and is also one of the best aviation academies in the country.

While undergoing training at an aviation academy, the student is given a Student Pilot License. After training, he can opt to become a private pilot or a commercial pilot. To become a private pilot, one has to obtain a Private Pilot License while to fly a commercial plane, Commercial Pilot License is required.

Student Pilot License is given those with 10+2 with science and aged at least 16 years should register at a flying club which is recognized by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India.

The second step is the Private Pilot License (PPL). PPL training includes sixty hours of flying of which about fifteen hours are dual flights, that is accompanied by the flight instructor and at least 30 hours of solo flights apart from five hours of cross-country flying. This makes one eligible for the Private Pilot License exam. The prescribed age for appearing for this exam is 17 years and an educational qualification of 10+2 along with a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by the Armed Forces Central Medical Establishment (AFCME).

A Commercial Pilot License may be obtained only after a PPL has been acquired. To obtain a Commercial Pilots License, 250 hours of flying (including 60 hours for the PPL) is necessary. Besides that one has to undergo a Medical Fitness Test and an examination.

Although there are various types of aircraft, many of the principles of pilot training have common techniques. All pilot training courses consist of some combination of theoretical learning conducted on the ground and practical exercises conducted in the air. Initial pilot training is often conducted in specialized training aircraft (most aviation academies use Cessna 172), which are designed for benign handling characteristics and lower costs compared to the aircraft which the pilot concerned is ultimately aiming to fly.

Aviation academies train an individual on the various skills required to fly an aircraft. It teaches a pilot the process of flying an aircraft through the air with proper direction and control. It also teaches the students to understand the weather forecasts. A Commercial Pilot License holder is supposed to be an expert in leading his crew and the passengers even in trying circumstances and a leader par excellence. Besides academic qualifications, a commercial pilot should also have a sound mind in a healthy body, lot of courage, determination and self-confidence.

Chimes Aviation Academy is one of the few aviation academies in India that boasts of a sound education system, world class facilities and a fleet of brand new aircrafts. More information about Pilot Training can be found on www.caaindia.com

Are you inspired to be a helicopter pilot? If you have a passion for flying an aircraft then you need to enroll yourself at a helicopter training school. There you can be equipped with the right skill of flying an aircraft. Once you have finished the course curriculum of the training school successfully then you are eligible to apply for a license necessary to fly. When you acquire the license then the very next moment you can call yourself a helicopter pilot.

Becoming a pilot is not as simple as it sounds. It is far more difficult and complicated to become a helicopter pilot than just completing the course and acquiring the license to fly.

To have a better knowledge of this try to concentrate on this. Having enough finances are a must before you enroll yourself for a helicopter-training course. This course is just like a long term commitment involving a lot of money (according to a rough estimate it ranges from $20,000 to $45,000). As this is a great amount to shell out therefore it must be pre-planned properly. You cannot afford to miss even a single hour of training. Always make sure that at entering of course that you come out with full training that contains full training hours and you don’t run out of resources. It is very embarrassing to know that you have 20 hours of training left and you ran out of resources.

Check to see if you have the requirements to start your helicopter training. You can start your helicopter training at any age. You can solo the helicopter at 16 years of age and then get your private pilot helicopter license at 17 years or age.

Eligibility requirements for your Student Pilot’s Certificate: (you do not need a student pilot’s certificate to take helicopter flying lessons, you only need it once you’re ready to solo the helicopter):

You must be at least 16 years old.
You must be able to read, speak and understand English
You must hold at least a current third-class medical certificate.

You will also need a FAA medical certificate before you solo. You will get this medical certificate from a designated FAA Medical Examiner, not your family doctor.

The medical requirements necessary for flying must be kept in mind well before joining the training or acquisition of license. You should know if you are fit and healthy before joining a helicopter training school. Get a medical certificate from the practicing doctor for your fitness.

Before enrolling for a helicopter-training course you have to keep in mind two basic things: First the location of the helicopter training schools. And second the cost of training. Since the cost of relocation is very high that is why you must choose a training school which is not very far away from your place. The cost of training should also be kept in mind. You should not run out of resources in between of the course.

After acquiring a Helicopter license and once you have finished the training you can be called as a helicopter pilot. Depending upon the flying training there are two kinds of helicopter pilot licenses: Private Helicopter License and Commercial License. Their training is not same either. You can think of these two types of licenses as the first having a professional driving license and the other non-professional driving license. Last but not least if you have decided to make flying helicopter as you career it is your experience and skills that will fetch you a handsome salary.

How tCongratulations on your decision to obtain your private pilot’s license. Now the big decision has been made just where do you begin? First, there are several prepatory steps to take even before you begin training. If you go about planning this endeavor, you will find reaching your goal of becoming a private pilot goes much more smoothly and efficiently. Following are some steps to guide you through your progress into becoming a private pilot.

Step #1

You must be able to speak fluent English. If this is not your first language then start by taking some English courses. Without it, you will not qualify for training to become a private pilot.

Step #2

Don’t set your heart on learning to fly unless you are of 16 years of age or older. If you are not then do not give up your dream, there are still some other prepatory things to put in place if you are soon going to becoming of age.

Step#3

Find out exactly what the current medical requirements for your country are in regards to obtaining your pilots license. It would be most unfortunate if you left this until the end of your lessons then found out you do not qualify medically.

Step#4

Do some research. You need to locate flying schools in your area or an area where you could attend. If there are several then it means more research by comparison. If you only have a couple then your choices are limited. It does not matter even if there is only one though as all flying schools must follow the same government rules and regulations for pilots. The only minor differences you will find in the schools are perhaps the extras they offer. If these are important to you then part of your decision may be based on this. From a cost point of view they are all pretty well in the same price range, although there may be some price fluctuation if they are several schools as they will be competing within themselves. It is also a good idea to plan to spend a little more money than what the tuition costs. You may want to purchase extra flying time for example.

Step #5

Be prepared to adopt some good study methods and homework application. Before you even get into the air, you will be facing up to five weeks ground training. It is this knowledge that is going to give you the ability to get up in the air and keep you safe. You want to know it well. Once you have completed your training you will need to write a 100 question of multiple-choice test. This is the FAA test and without passing this, you will not be able to proceed with your training.

Step #6

Now it really gets exciting you are ready to complete about 40 hours of practical flight experience where you will be accompanied by a qualified instructor.

Step#7

You will have to complete a solo flight. Your instructor will be present but you will be in control. This is the preparatory work for your final exam.

Step #8

The final step is before you, which is your final exam. Here a FAA certified examiner will give you the tests. He will accompany you on a flight to determine your flying abilities and will ask you several questions.

Once you have successfully achieved all that we have covered here, you will be a licensed private pilot. Naturally, these pointers are the basics and consist of a lot more detail, but it gives you an overall view of what you are facing on your road to becoming a private pilot.

Becoming a pilot requires extensive and serious training. You carry with you many lives at stake as you fly a plane in the air as a pilot.

Most training courses today are a mixture of practical exercises performed in the air. Aside from this, there is theoretical learning performed on the ground. The initial training is designed especially for beginners. Specialized trainings are done as the student advances.

Full flight simulators and flight training devices are used to train a student pilot in several conditions, at much lesser prices and danger than being airborne. Private pilot flight trainings have a minimum amount of 40 hours. However, most of the students are required to have 50 to 58 hours of flight training.

The prices of flight training classes differ largely from area to area, at around 40 to 60 flight schools for approximately 7,000 US dollar for the PPL or Private Pilot License. The CPL or Commercial Pilot License usually rates from 40,000 US dollars to 60,000 US dollars. It is taken for about 1 to 2 years. These structured training programs are eligible by the FAA to issues pilot license with reduced hours of flight training.

A full time pilot student can complete the training program in 4 to 6 months for their Commercial Pilot License. Several universities offer a 4 year Aviation Degree Program that contains flight training. The Ohio State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and University of North Dakota are several of the largest university that offers flight trainings.

Flight training can be extremely demanding emotionally, mentally and physically. Once the student made the decision to start to flight training, a student should do so with great self discipline and determination. With the training and the right resources, most people can learn to fly an aircraft at the basic level.

Tips on Training as a Pilot

Check out some local FBO or Fixed Base Operators. Flight trainings are usually done at the fixed base operator which can be found at some small airport in your area. These Fixed Base Operators are here to control hangar parking, dispense fuel and ramp usage. It usually has an aircraft you can rent out as well as numerous flight instructors that are available to train new students. Training at Fixed Base Operators are great choices for student who want to fly as a hobby and for fun.

Consider an Aeronautical University or College. Numerous universities and colleges in the United State offer full training for pilot bachelor degrees. These colleges or universities may solely emphasize on aeronautical based trainings like Embry-Riddle or may have aviation degrees within a larger umbrella like Central Missouri State University, Purdue University, the University of North Dakota and Parks College at Saint Luis University. This is a great choice for students who want to become a pilot and get a college degree.

Get an instructor. Regardless of who can make it to the flight training facility, students need a pilot instructor that well fits them. This could be one of the most significant decisions you can make throughout the flight training. Do not just accept the first pilot instructor they offer you, especially if you sense that you have different personalities.

You need to get along with this person in close quarters and be able to respect as well as trust their judgment and skills. Once you find a good pilot instructor stick with her or him. Changing pilot instructors numerous times can become confusing since they vary in expectations and techniques.

Steps to consider before becoming a pilot –

1. If your age is 16 yrs or above, and you have good communication skills, you’re all set to become a pilot. One should be able to speak English fluently because it used by the control towers and airports all over the world.

2. Research on some flying schools is essential. Get in touch with local aviation airports to find out which flying institute is nearest to your area.

3. The next step is to enroll to a licensed flight training program. Pilot training can cost you anything around $3,000 to $4,000.

4. Before starting your training, it is important to get a medical certificate from a doctor of aviation medicine to ensure you’re healthy enough to fly and can handle the requirements of pilot training. If you don’t know from where to get the check-up done, ask the flight school for information on the same.

5. After that, successfully complete a ground school course. These typically last for 3-5 weeks.

6. Write the DGCA test after you’ve completed all course work.

7. Along with a proficient and reputed instructor complete 30-40 flying hours. Practical experience is very important for getting a license. This flying school will provide an access to plane.

8. Then go for solo flying – consider it as your “in-air” preparation for the final test.

9. Then you have to give a check ride. In this, an instructor conducts takes your test, asks you questions and comes with you for a flight to test and assesses your flying skills.

10. If you are able to pass all final tests, you’re granted a private pilot’s license with a visual flight rating. This rating is important because it reflects that you can fly a single engine aircraft at day or night in conditions.

How flight training schools can help you?

Flying lessons are not easy at all. One needs a lot of skill to fly a plane, but that doesn’t mean most people can’t fly. In fact, with the right pilot training one can develop a great ability to fly. Flight training depends a lot on the instructors. Before signing up for the flying lessons, make sure you find a good school. School like High Flyers Aviation Services provides airline training, pilot training and Advanced Professional Pilot Career Program

Several flight training schools have been developed across the world where you can get a commercial pilot’s license that allows you to fly even the largest passenger jets for all the major airlines.

To obtain a private pilot’s license, you have to first enroll yourself in a flight school at a nearby airport, where qualified instructors will oversee your training from the beginning till the time you qualify for a commercial pilot training license. If you want to learn further, many of these local flight schools also offer more advanced training including instrument flying and multi-engine certification.

No matter which flight training program you choose, there are certain distinctive marks of a good flight school. One of the most important things is that the instructors need to be well qualified and fully proficient in the training that you want to receive. The flying school should have all the tools and lesson plans needed to help you get the pilot’s license.

Before joining a school, you should take a good look at the aircraft that the flight school is using for training. See that all aircrafts are properly maintained and well taken care of, and there should be sufficient aircraft to be able to support all of the students that are are currently in the training program.

Before joining any flight school, it’s advisable to visit the school personally and make notes on everything that you observe. Find out if the staff and instructors are affable and helpful, and whether they sincerely answer all the queries you have. If at this stage they are not helpful, it is likely that they won’t be very helpful when you join as a student.

Talking to former students of the school is also a good idea, as they can give you some useful information on the quality of the program.

Choosing the right kind of flight school can help you begin an exciting career as an aircraft pilot. Becoming a pilot is a good choice whether you become one for pure enjoyment or as a lucrative career option.
